The lovely clothes from the TV show that you remember. SpongeBob SquarePants would be the face of cartoon style if there was ever one. SpongeBob has probably changed into more outfits, costumes, and physical states than almost any other cartoon character, with the possible exception of Mickey Mouse. Who would have thought that a yellow square could be used in so many different ways before 1999?
In SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, SpongeBob can wear different crazy outfits with the help of the Cosmic Jelly he collects and the careful work of Madame Kassandra. Many of these outfits remind us of SpongeBob’s shenanigans and adventures from the past, and some of the moments they represent are so well-known that they have become iconic.
Employee Of The Month
SpongeBob didn’t always work at the Krusty Krab, but it’s easy to forget since it’s been so long. In the first episode of the show, “Help Wanted,” to the tune of Tiny Tim’s “Living in the Sunlight,” he showed how good he was at fast food work. This got him the job.
Since then, his official Krusty Krab hat has become one of his most recognizable items, along with his square pants. Give it to Mr. Krabs, he knows how to make a unique (and cheap) uniform for his workers.
KarateBob
Strangely, when SpongeBob is shown doing something physical, he is usually shown as a wimp. More than once, when he worked too hard, his whole arms fell apart. But as soon as he puts on his karate gear to practice with Sandy, he becomes much stronger.
Maybe it’s all about how he looks. He can only be strong when he’s thinking about martial arts. Or, dare we say that SpongeBob is hiding his real strength and is only willing to show it when he has foam on his hands to protect them? Hmm… nah, probably not.
KuddlyBob
Mr. Krabs asks his daughter Pearl to run the Krusty Krab for the summer in the episode “SpongeBob SquarePants: Bossy Boots.” She quickly changes the whole place into the “Kuddly Krab,” including these… interesting uniforms with floral patterns.
Squidward and Mr. Krabs didn’t like it much, but SpongeBob did. That’s why Mr. Krabs let him keep all of Pearl’s pastel things after she was fired. And it only cost him his salary for one year! Quite a bit, really.
The Quickster
The fifth time Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy show up, Barnacle Boy leaves Mermaid Man because he feels disrespected. Mermaid Man asked SpongeBob, Squidward, Patrick, and Sandy to join the International Justice League of Super Acquaintances so they could fight the new evil forces (a subsidiary of Via- sorry, Paramount).
SpongeBob is given The Quickster’s outfit and super speed, but he has only used it to go to a mountain and back and run in a circle so fast that he vaporized himself. But that’s okay, because Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy figured things out on their own later.
Housemaid
In the episode “Can You Spare a Dime?,” Mr. Krabs fires Squidward from the Krusty Krab because he thinks Squidward stole his first dime. SpongeBob lets Squidward stay with him until he can get back on his feet. He does this out of the goodness of his heart.
SpongeBob is quickly used by Squidward, who wears him out and makes him wear this maid outfit for reasons we may never know. Even though we didn’t want to say it, SpongeBob did look pretty good in this outfit. Most of the time, black on yellow looks good.
Clown
This one is a little strange, not so much because of the costume but because of how it is described. At first glance, it looks like a normal clown wig, but it’s actually a reference to the famous Salty Spittoon bit from the “Salty Sponge” episode.
People at Weenie Hut Jr.’s tell SpongeBob to change his hair after he is turned away from the tough-guy place. Later, a sponge with a stylish black pompadour and the story that he is a drifter tries to get into the place. Right after that, SpongeBob shows up wearing this wig, also hoping to get in. He does not get it.
Dried Sponge
When SpongeBob first met Sandy in “Tea at the Treedome,” he thought she was a fancy person because she asked if he was okay with “air.” It turns out he wasn’t ready to go into her treedome, which didn’t have any water in it. He dried out and went crazy from thirst.
In addition to being a funny bit on its own, that episode was one of the first to show how much the show liked creepy extreme close-ups. A close-up of SpongeBob’s cracked, dried-out face as he desperately tries to convince himself that he doesn’t need water is funny in its own way.
RoboBob SteelPants
This outfit is actually a reference to the final boss of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. And, by extension, Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. Plankton’s robot cloning machine went wrong and made robot copies of everyone in town, including himself and SpongeBob. Plankton’s robot copy of SpongeBob wanted to marry him. Strange, but not as strange as Plankton getting married to his computer.
This outfit is especially cool because it is the only one that moves in its own way. RoboBob floats along the ground on his leg jets. And when he talks, his mouth moves up and down like a carnival fortune-teller machine.
Band Geeks Uniform
“Band Geeks” is probably one of the episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants that everyone loves the most. It has a lot of funny quotes, has been used for internet memes for a long time. And has one of the best musical numbers we’ve ever seen in a cartoon. Then you should also check Happy Wheels game!
SpongeBob and his friends sang a rock ballad while wearing these uniforms at a random sports event at Bikini Bottom’s Bubble Bowl. “Sweet Victory” is a song that is still often asked to be played at real-life Super Bowls.
Wizard
Here’s something to think about: the ending of the first SpongeBob movie makes no sense from a story point of view. Plankton and his minions are closing in on SpongeBob. This makes him give a speech about why it’s okay to be a kid. And then he turns into a laser-shooting wizard and frees everyone.
So, why hasn’t anyone ever said anything bad about that ending? It’s simple: it’s amazing. SpongeBob playing a peanut-shaped, laser-blasting guitar to a mix of the Goofy Goober theme song and Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” is such an amazing sight that no one would ever try to find something wrong with it. The ending and the outfit are the things that really don’t make sense.
