Step 1 – Download And Install QuickBooks Desktop Version
- To begin with the conversion process, download and install the QuickBooks Desktop version on your computer system. To run this version, you must have a license to QuickBooks Desktop, and if you don’t have one, you have to download the QuickBooks Desktop File Restoration Tool. Step 3 – Prepare QuickBooks Desktop File To Export
In this step, we are going to prepare a QuickBooks Desktop file to export by selecting data in QuickBooks Online for conversion.
- Once again, open your QuickBooks Online account and prepare to export window, followed by selecting the Continue option. In the export window, choose the data that you want to export from QBO to QBDT.

- Once you saved the file, go to the QuickBooks Desktop and be on the No Company Open screen and compare your company data before and after the export process.
Step 4 – Now Run The QuickBooks Desktop Migration Tool
- Ensure that the QuickBooks Desktop is open at the No Company Open screen. If you see a company open, head toward the File and select Close Company.
- After closing the company file, open the downloaded QuickBooks Desktop Migration tool app and enter the path to browse and download the QBXML file in it.
- Select Import by clicking on the QBXML file. After importing the file, download the file and choose a location and name your very new QuickBooks Desktop file.
- Check for the QuickBooks Application Certificate, remember that it may be invisible or hidden behind the other opened screens in the QuickBooks Desktop.
- You will see the read/modify rights. Select them to get personal data access. After getting access, on the confirmation screen, select Continue and Done.
